Winter brings sustainability and good music to Carbon6
What is Carbon6?
Carbon6, in Parkstad, the Netherlands, is the first World of Walas project activated by Gerben van Straaten. The 43,000 m2 complex was converted from an empty data centre built to a thriving mixed-work community. The complex is now home to the largest creative cluster in the Netherlands. Over 1200 tenants currently occupy the space. They work in arts, culture, office and innovation, with events and other Walas programming help community members grow their businesses, networks and expertise.
New and old tenants enjoy delicious food and glühwein
In December, Carbon6 celebrated the end of 2019 with a wonderful Sustainable Winter Market. Carbon6 tenants showcased their work to the public, especially old and new tenants. Delicious local food and Glühwein was served, and a model train and sustainable textiles by ‘Jas op Mat’ added to the festive atmosphere. It was a delight for attendees and visitors.
Music from ‘POP School Parkstad’ and the creative talents of guest artist collective ‘Art Machine’ filled the marketplace. Attendees enjoyed food tasting by ‘Chopain – La Bottega’ and organic health and wellness products. The Winter Market offered fun activities and a great place for our tenants to connect before the year-end and celebrate each other’s successes.
Events at Walas locations
We regularly host events at Walas projects that engage our own community and welcome the public. These events are inspiring for us, and bring our community together in fun and helpful ways. Together, we build our network of local start-ups, creatives and collaborators, and offer opportunities for our community to showcase their work, build relationships and develop business opportunities.
