Wrapping up 2019 at Dudoc Vancouver
What is Dudoc?
Dudoc Vancouver, our Walas Innovation Centre in Canada looks back at 2019. It is a distinct pleasure to help bring together so many partners, thought leaders, businesses, government groups and other organizations together. Our community works together for higher performance in cities, sustainability and innovations. Walas is active in many fields and cities across the world, all contributing to new ways for sustainability in urban development.
What happened at Dudoc in 2019?
Highlights from Dudoc Vancouver, a Walas Innovation Centre included: expert presentations in architecture and high-performance buildings, discussions on productivity displacement with a focus on arts and culture, pitch-nights offering new business opportunities to local innovators and ongoing involvement with educational institutions and their push for sustainability.
Earth Charter Day
Each year, Walas also takes part in the celebration and education of the Earth Charter on Earth Charter Day (June 29th). This year we celebrated on Canada Day (July 1st) in Vancouver as part of the city celebration. Over 50,000 people attended the event and gave us an opportunity to showcase our work at Walas and introduce the Earth Charter over some fun activities. Our other Innovation Centers in Heerlen and Parkstad also celebrated. We were also delighted to continue to honour Jane Jacobs, one of our biggest inspirations in the sustainable urban development, and hosted a screening of Citizen Jane and a Jane’s Walk.
European Innovations
We also continued our work helping bring European innovations to Canada through our Innovations Centre. Along with our exhibition showroom, we were happy to host events for European business clubs, local and international governments and Chambers of Commerce. Our events focus on dialogues around import, export and the challenges and successes associated with business overseas.
