Leading Innovative Building Trends at Buildex 2018

World of Walas is proud to host a diverse community of sustainable and innovative business at our Innovation Pavilion at Buildex 2018. Buildex Vancouver is Western Canada’s largest tradeshow and conference for the Construction, Renovation, Architecture, Interior Design and Property Management industries. With over 600 exhibits, and more than 80 educational seminars, Buildex attracts over 14,000 attendees annually.

For eager attendees of the conference and tradeshow, we will provide some of the best in expertise and products that Europe has to offer. The pavilion covers a variety of key trends in the urban development industry. These trends are:

Sustainable Materials

With the increasing use of standards such as LEED and Passive House, as well as changes in Vancouver’s building code which require near zero or low emission buildings for all rezoning applications after May 1st, 2017, sustainable materials are in high demand.

This year, we will be showcasing sustainable wood solutions, biofoam pearls and BlueWorxx. BlueWorxx, a World of Walas project, is an international platform for solution providers who work to create cities that are financially, socially and environmentally sustainable. We bring innovators and their market ready innovations together with a unique integrated approach for exponential results.

Sustainable Designs

Implementing new sustainable materials can be synergistically be paired with new innovative design practices. This year, our booth has been sponsored by Exhibau who create technical design, project planning and fabrication for temporary structures, installations and exhibits.

In addition, World of Walas will be showcasing the CarbonBlue urban solar project which offers solutions to reduce the energy costs and reliance on the energy grid, and to transition to cleaner energy sources. Using a systems thinking approach, CarbonBlue able to provides filtered light during the day, captures rain water, generates clean energy, cleans the surrounding air and water, creates jobs and provides a green retreat for the community. Those who attend the booth will be able to experience CarbonBlue through new digitization techniques such as virtual or augmented reality.

Digitization of Cities

Digitization of cities, the creation of smart cities, will be a defining trend for cities in the 21st century. Through an exponential growth of Internet of Things (IoT) applications and new software for managing building information, the digitization of cities will create an opportunity for large energy savings, better environments and a greater diversity of businesses through stronger building climate controls.

Although, digitization will extend beyond just the management of the building. One of our partners  will showcase virtual and augmented reality applications in the digital visualization of buildings and cities. These technologies can give you the opportunity of visiting and experiencing places that are not physically built. It can help builders, architects and clients see the impact of design choices, even before laying a single brick.

As World of Walas, we are thrilled to be the point of access for advancing the adopting of these new building trends of sustainable material, sustainable design and the digitization of cities.
